Who Sam Is

Instilled with a deep love of baseball since his early days, Sam knew that his future career was going to have to revolve around baseball. When it was apparent that his playing days would end after high school, Sam took his passion and knowledge of the game and moved it up to the press box. Sam chose to attend Syracuse University's S.I Newhouse School of Public Communications because of the lineage of great sports broadcasters. After arriving at Syracuse in 2014, Sam has participated in broadcasts of Women's Field Hockey and Men's soccer for ACCN Extra while also assuming the role of reporter for NCC News. During school, Sam completed internships with Kevin Wilson Baseball, Wisconsin Rapids Rafters Baseball Club, and the Elmira Pioneers baseball team.  While studying in London during the Spring of 2017, Sam also worked with ShoutOut U.K! a news and politics website based in North London. Sam graduated from Syracuse with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and History in May 2018 and finished his first season in minor league baseball that same summer with the Evansville Otters where he was the lead broadcaster. Sam spent the fall and winter of 2018-2019 at the University of North Carolina - Pembroke where he broadcasted football and basketball among other sports. Following his first season of affiliated baseball with the Delmarva Shorebirds, the single-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, Sam is broadcasting for Colgate University, handling Women's Ice Hockey on ESPN+ and various other sports for the Patriot League Network. After the cancellation of the 2020 minor league baseball season where Sam was slated to broadcast for the Bradenton Marauders (Pit, A+), Sam returned to Delmarva to take over as Director of Broadcasting and Communications. In 2023, Sam Jellinek the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (PHI, AAA) as their play-by-play broadcaster
